Is your passport valid? Many of us forget when our passports expire, only to turn up for check-in and be refused travel. Check your passport immediately, and also those of your children. Children's passports are only valid for 5 years, not 10, so make sure this doesn't catch you out!
You will also be refused travel if your appearance has changed beyond recognition (in relation to your photo) or if your passport is in terrible condition.
